All festival ticket holders are eligible for a face value refund, or you will be able to roll over your tickets for Afro Nation Portugal 2022, which will take place in Portimão on 1st-3rd July. You will be contacted shortly by your ticket provider with details on how to make your decision. At this stage you don’t need to take any further action.


What are the festival dates?

The festival begins on 1st July and will run into the early morning of 4th July 2022.

Where is the festival?

The festival will take place on Praia da Rocha beach in Portimao, The Algarve, Portugal. Praia da Rocha is one of the most popular beaches in The Algarve and is about an hour’s drive away from Faro International Airport.

What age do I have to be?

The Festival is an 18+ only event and you will need ID to prove your age to guarantee entry. To purchase alcoholic beverages at the festival you must be over 18.

Where can I find the full programme?

What are the festival times? 

There are festival events running from each afternoon until the early hours of the next day. Full details of the programme and times will be released in advance of the festival. Keep up to date by signing up to the mailing list or following us on Instagram @AfroNation

What time is last entry to the festival?

Last entry time for the main festival site will be announced closer to the festival dates.

Where do I get my festival wristband? 

You can pick up your festival wristband from the festival accreditation area on-site Opening times for accreditation will be disclosed in your festival info pack which you will receive closer to the festival dates.

What happens if I lose my wristband? 

Wristbands will only be issued once. Broken or lost wristbands cannot be replaced so please look after them.

What’s included in my festival ticket? 

General admission tickets include three-day access to the main festival area. VIP tickets include access to the main area, a dedicated VIP area with a private bar and fast-track entry into the festival site. Note: Drinks and private tables are not included in the ticket price. Bill and venues subject to change.

What do the different ticket tiers mean?

There is no difference in event access between the different tiers.

e.g. The 1st release tickets have simply gone on sale later than the early bird tickets, and the 2nd release tickets later than the 1st release.

As more ticket tiers are released, they go up in price, therefore the sooner you buy your ticket, the more you will save!

What is a payment plan?

Our Payment Plan option allows you to pay a small deposit to reserve your ticket, you will then pay off the outstanding amount in monthly instalments. Please note any incomplete payment plans or missed payments will not grant a valid ticket. You will receive full details of your payment plan via email from your ticket vendor.

Who are the official ticket vendors? 

Festicket and TicketArena are the primary ticketing partners. Other official ticket vendors include Shoobs and Skiddle. Please ensure you do not buy tickets from any other platforms, as these will not be valid.

Can I buy my ticket from Viagogo or other third-party sellers?

Tickets on third party websites are not valid or genuine. To ensure you are buying a genuine ticket please follow the links on our website. Our official reseller is Festicket.

When will I receive my festival ticket? 

At this stage you should only have your booking confirmation. Tickets will be sent out as e-tickets, and not delivered by post, approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the festival event dates.

How can I change my personal details on my booking?

Please contact your ticket provider directly to make changes to your booking i.e. email, address, card details etc

What do I need to bring to guarantee entry? 

Please bring your ticket, the card you purchased the ticket with and valid photo identification.

What constitutes a valid photo ID? 

Photographic forms of identification such as a passport or driving licence are acceptable.

What if I want to gift my ticket to a friend? 

There are no name transfers available on ticket purchases, however you are able to gift your tickets to a friend if you can no longer attend. Please ensure you provide them with the following documentation as they will be required to present all three documents along with the ticket and their own photo ID in order to redeem their ticket for a festival wristband:

1 – A signed cover letter from the card holder

2 – A clear scan showing the last 4 digits of the long card number on the card used

3 – A clear scan of passport or driving license of the card holder

Can you camp at Afro Nation?

Afro Nation is a non-camping festival.  

How should I resolve an issue with my hotel?

Please speak with your hotel provider directly. 

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in and check-out times for hotels, villas and apartments vary. 

How can I safely store belongings?

Most hotels come with safety deposit boxes in the rooms, but some require a nominal fee for their use. Check with your accommodation when booking for information.


How hot is it in Portimao?

The average day temperature in July is 25 degrees in Portimao, with 10 hours of sunshine per day.

Where are the best areas to stay? 

As the Algarve is such a sought-after tourist destination, there is a huge selection of quality hotels, villas and apartments to choose from. We recommend staying in the following areas to be close to the festival: Praia Da Rocha, Portimao, Alvor, Carvoeiro, Lagoa

Where is the festival site?

The festival site is located on Portimao’s main beach, Praia da Rocha.

Are there cash machines on-site?

There are cash machines across Portimao where you can withdraw Euros.

What currency do I need to bring?

The official currency used is the Euro, which can be bought easily at the bank, the post office or at the airport.

Can I list my ticket for resale?

As communicated with all ticket holders, the deadline to list your 2020 tickets for resale was the 15th June 2020. As this deadline has passed, you are unable to list your tickets for resale. However, your original 2020 ticket will still be valid for the 2021 edition.

I haven’t received the money for my resold ticket?

all customers were notified if their listed ticket(s) had been purchased and if they would be due a refund. Face value refunds were processed within 30 days of that notification to the card used at the time of purchase. Please note that if you had a Payment Plan order, your refund will have been returned in instalments.
