What are the festival dates?
The festival begins on 17th July. The event will run into the early morning of 20th July
Where is the festival?
The festival will take place on Praia da Rocha beach in Portimao, The Algarve, Portugal. Praia da Rocha is one of the most popular beaches in The Algarve and is about an hour’s drive away from Faro International Airport.
What are the festival times?

What age do I have to be?
Afro Nation Portugal is an 18+ only event and you will need ID to prove your age to guarantee entry. To purchase alcoholic beverages at the festival you must be over 18.
Will Accreditation be open every day of the festival?
Yes. Full opening times will be released nearer to the festival.
Can I go in and out of the festival site every night?
Yes. Your wristband allows you to go to and from the festival site and into each venue as often as you’d like. Last entry for the main site is 9pm.
What happens if I lose my wristband?
Wristbands will only be issued once. Broken or lost wristbands cannot be replaced so please look after them.
How much are tickets?
General admission festival tickets are available from £99. For more information about VIP tickets, payment plans and more head to our tickets page.
What’s included in my festival ticket?
General admission tickets include three-day access to the main festival area. VIP tickets include access to the main area, a dedicated VIP area and private bar. Note: Drinks and private tables are not included in the ticket price. Bill and venues subject to change.

Can I sell my ticket?
Unfortunately all tickets are non-transferable and we are unable to offer any refunds for tickets no longer needed.
What age do I have to be?
Afro Nation Festival is an 18+ only event and you will need ID to prove your age to guarantee entry.
What do I need to bring to guarantee entry?
Please bring your ticket, the card you purchased the ticket with and valid photo ID.
What constitutes valid Photo I.D.?
Photographic form of identifications, i.e. a passport or driving licence, are acceptable.
What if someone else bought my ticket for me?
If your name on the ticket does not match your ID, you will need to bring the following in order to exchange for your festival wristband:
1 – A signed cover letter from the card holder
2 – A clear scan of the card used
3 – A clear scan of passport or driving license of the card holder
What needs to be on a cover letter from the card holder?
A written letter giving you consent from the card holder that matches the billing address of your booking. This needs to be signed and dated by the card holder.
Can I cancel my ticket?
Unfortunately all tickets are non-refundable, we are unable to offer any refunds for tickets no longer needed.
Who are the official ticket vendors?
Festicket (and their subsidiary, TicketArena) is the primary ticketing partner for Afro Nation Portugal 2020.

Can you camp at Afro Nation Festival?
Afro Nation is a non-camping festival.
How should I resolve an issue at my hotel?

Check-in and check-out times for hotels, villas and apartments vary. Please contact your accommodation directly.
How can I safely store belongings?
Most hotels come with safety deposit boxes in the rooms, but some require a nominal fee for their use. Check with your accommodation when booking for information.

What are my flight options to Portugal?
Portugal has great connections with all major airlines flying directly into Faro – these can all be booked with our travel provider, Travel Republic.
Which airport should I fly into?
Faro International Airport is the closest airport to the festival. Travel Republic can arrange flights flying directly to the airport from across the UK and many European and African destinations.
How hot is it in Portimao?
The average temperature in July is 25 degrees in Portimao, with 10 hours of sunshine.
Where are the best areas to stay?
Portimao has plenty of accommodation options. You can find the perfect place for you with our travel partner Travel Republic.
Where is the festival site?
The festival site is located on Portimao’s main beach,Praia da Rocha.
Are there cash machines on site?
There are cash machines across Portimao where you can withdraw Euros.
What currency do I need to bring?
The official currency used is the Euro, which can be bought easily at the bank, the post office or at the airport.
Food and drink
The Algarve is the beautiful southern coastline of Portugal. It is a region blessed with stunning beaches, picturesque fishing towns, historical sites and a glorious climate, all of which combine to create the perfect holiday destination.
The national salted cod dish, Bacalhau, which can be cooked in 365 different ways is a must-try. The beverage selection includes the national drink aguardiente – a strong fortified wine – while the price of a pint of beer averages at €1,50!
Located at the eastern point of Praia da Rocha, Portimo Marina (Marina de Portimão) is where you’ll find a host of seafood spots and pizzerias. If you’re feeling active, jet skis are available to hire, with kiosks also chartering small yachts and motorboats.
Lagos Old Town
Lagos Old Town is just a 30-minute drive from Portimão. Once there, you’ll be greeted with beautiful and historic buildings, such as the 15th century slave market. It’s worth a trip!
Benagil Caves Tour
In this two-hour guided tour you’ll enter the sea caves by boat and feast your eyes on stunning natural rock formations. Don’t forget your camera or phone as this is certainly an attraction for the ‘gram. Truly spectacular!
